Getting Involved

If you want an opportunity to show genuine love to people in some of the greatest need in the Dallas area, check out The Bridge. It's an amazing facility, and it's part of the MDHA (Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance). I'll be starting on Sept 8, volunteering as a "roving Guest Service Assistant" (or some such thing). Basically, I'll be greeting my new found neighbors and helping them get plugged into the myriad of services available at The Bridge. They offer ON SITE anger management classes, drug and alcohol recovery programs, medical help by docs from Parkland, mental health facilities, legal aid, three meals a day, showers, shelter, an address and voice mail number (for resumes), resume help, Texas Workforce Commission, barber shop...and on top of all that...if you lucky...they have free live (stereo) music from some dudes who like to hang out in front of the facility! Every client is paired with a caseworker who designs a custom plan for them and monitors their progress through regular meetings and constant supervision via a shared computer network (i.e. with TWC, legal aid, etc.).

They're not a "Christian" organization, but they look a whole lot like Jesus! They need help really really really really really really badly, and they'll take volunteers to do just about anything.

Let me know if you want any more info!
